Napoleon Hill, an American author who was one of the earliest producers of the modern genre of personal-success literature and widely considered to be one of the great writers on success, studied hundreds of successful people and analyzed the characteristics that they had in common. Hill found that they all had, among other things, the ability to make decisions and then act on them, and they also had mentors that they could go to for advice or to compare themselves.
Hill's works examined the power of personal beliefs, and the role they play in personal success. His documented theories for how achievement actually occurs, and a formula for achievement that puts success in reach for the average person, were the focal points of Hill's writings prior to becoming an advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
